Arrests and injuries after PSG win against Arsenal

Following Paris Saint-Germain's entry into the Champions League final, there were riots and arrests in the French capital, as well as one incident with injuries.

According to the police prefecture, 43 people were arrested the morning after the exuberant celebrations of PSG fans in the center of Paris. The newspaper reported Le ParisienOfficials had cordoned off the Champs-Élysées in the area of ​​the Arc de Triomphe and were subsequently pelted with objects and fireworks.


Under still unclear circumstances, a car also drove into a group of people near the Champs-Élysées. One person was seriously injured and two were slightly injured, media reported, citing police. Bystanders chased the car and apparently set it on fire. It was not immediately known whether the car's occupants could be arrested. Revelers also damaged shop windows and parked cars in the area.

PSG reached the Champions League final for the second time on Wednesday evening. The French champions followed up their 1-0 away victory in the first leg with a 2-1 (1-0) victory in their second match against Arsenal. This means that Paris will face Inter Milan at Munich's Allianz Arena on May 31st for their first triumph in Europe's premier club competition.
