In Turin: Stuttgart shocks Juventus

VfB Stuttgart showed a strong reaction to the defeat at FC Bayern and celebrated its first victory in the Champions League in almost 15 years.

Three days after the 0:4 defeat in the Bundesliga in Munich, the German runners-up deservedly won 1:0 at Juventus. Joker El Bilal Touré redeemed the Swabians with his goal in injury time (90th+2). Enzo Millot had previously missed a penalty (86th). It was the first win for Stuttgart after four competitive games in a row without a win. They are now on four points in the table after the third matchday of the league phase. Juve had won their first two games in the Champions League.

VfB were clearly the better team in the first half, but did not reward themselves. Juve's Dusan Vlahovic was more or less completely absent that evening. However, Stuttgart did not take advantage of their chances. In the 29th minute, striker Ermedin Demirovic hit the ball flat onto the right post after a fine pass from Millot. Juve's goalkeeper Mattia Perin was on it with his fingertips - and was really challenged three minutes before the break. The keeper deflected a header from Deniz Undav after a cross from Angelo Stiller over the bar.

After the break, the same picture emerged: VfB marched on, Juve trailed behind. Undav scored after a long diagonal ball from Mittelstädt to give the visitors the lead. However, as he had slightly taken the ball with his arm, the goal was disallowed after a video check (50th minute). In the 67th minute, Juve's Kenan Yildiz was thwarted by Stuttgart's national goalkeeper Nübel (67th minute). Yildiz also appeared dangerously in the penalty area in the 79th minute, but Josha Vagnoman saved.

Five minutes before the end, Millot had the Stuttgart victory on his feet. After a foul on Anthony Rouault, for which Juve's defender Danilo was shown a yellow-red card, the midfielder's penalty was saved by the outstanding Perin. It again seemed that it would not be enough for VfB to win, but then substitute Touré smashed the ball into the net. A year ago, the 23-year-old striker from Mali moved to Atalanta for 30 million euros. After just three goals in 17 games, Touré was loaned to Stuttgart in the summer. He is now making a real impact there.

After 0-2 deficit: Real tears Dortmund apart

Real Madrid won the rematch of the last Champions League final with an impressive comeback against Borussia Dortmund. The Royal team beat BVB 0-2 after trailing 5-2, handing the Germans their first defeat of the CL season.

At the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the Madrid crowd was amazed when Dortmund took the lead with a double strike. Donyell Malen scored after a sweet pass from Serhou Guirassy (30th minute) and shortly afterwards provided the perfect assist for Jamie Gittens' 2-0 goal (34th minute). In the second half, Real tied up BVB and reduced the deficit through Antonio Rüdiger, who headed in a cross from Mbappe (60th minute). Vinicius Junior added another three minutes later. Lucas Vazquez finally turned the game around in the closing stages (83rd minute), before Vinicius Junior sealed the deal with two more goals (86th minute, 93rd minute).
