Coman Paris scare again – Milan dreams of the quarter-finals

Bayern Munich's final hero Kingsley Coman has once again become the terror of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The French international, who headed the winning goal in the 2020 final against his former club, was once again the match winner with a volley in the German record champions' 1-0 (0-0) win in the first part of the round of XNUMX showdown with the initially ineffective world champion Lionel Messi and the PSG joker Kylian Mbappé, who played like he was unleashed after being substituted.

However, when Coman scored (53') after a cross from Alphonso Davies in the sold-out Parc des Princes in Paris, European champion Gianluigi Donnarumm cut a very poor figure in the PSG goal. Bayern, who were particularly dominant after the break, are now the favorites for the return match on March 8 in Munich. Then Messi, Neymar and Mbappé, who came on after Coman's goal, will have to offer more than they did in the first half in front of their own fans.

At least Mbappé, who was recently injured, brought some life into the visitors' game, but his goals in the 74th and 82nd minutes were rightly disallowed for offside. Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard received a second yellow card in injury time for repeated fouls and will therefore miss the return match.

Messi, who unlike Mbappé had recovered from a muscle injury and was fit to start in the eleven, and Brazil's soccer star Neymar took on virtually no defensive tasks.

The top duo of the French serial champions were also rarely present in attack. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer had little to do in his first Champions League match for Bayern. The Swiss player also did not have to intervene when Messi took a free kick shortly before half-time. Tellingly, the ball landed in the wall. Before Messi or Neymar could get going, they were mostly stopped by the alert Bayern defense. However, Benjamin Pavard received a yellow card after just 26 minutes for a foul on Neymar.

Nagelsmann brought on Davies for the inconspicuous Cancelo in the second half and ordered Coman to the right side - and was spot on.
