Head coach Bernardo Corradi has called up 25 players for the European Championship preparations. One name is missing from the squad: that of Raphael Kofler, who had a strong season at FC Südtirol this year but was not included. The first training camp in Rungg lasts until Saturday, the second begins on July 4th and ends five days later. The departure for Northern Ireland is scheduled for July 11th in Rome. Italy is the current defending champion.
The Azzurri have qualified for the U19 European Championship for the fifth time in a row. In the group phase, Corradi's team will face hosts Northern Ireland, Ukraine and Norway. The duel with the Scandinavians will open the European Championship from Italy's perspective on July 15 in Belfast. The first two from each group will qualify for the semi-finals and at the same time get their ticket to the U20 World Cup in Chile. The European Championship final will take place on July 28.
