Also in the European Championship final: Spain's Cucurella booed

Spanish national football player Marc Cucurella was once again booed by fans during the European Championship final at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.

Even during the team presentation, there were voices of discontent against the 25-year-old. After kick-off, they could also be heard when the Chelsea full-back touched the ball. The Spanish fans, on the other hand, celebrated Cucurella with chants.

The background is a scene in extra time of the quarter-final match against Germany, in which the DFB team was knocked out of the tournament. Cucurella had touched the ball with his hand in the penalty area, which was not punished as a punishable handball. The 25-year-old was also booed in the Spanish semi-final against France in Munich.

Cucurella himself had recently expressed little understanding for the boos. "Actually, I didn't care. But at the same time, it felt a little sad that some people came to this game just to boo a single player," he told the portal The Athletic.
