Premiere for the FCS: A white and red team goes to the European Championships

While most of the players are already putting their feet up during the summer break, a big treat awaits with the European Football Championship in Germany from June 14th. There is a player there who the local fans from South Tyrol know well.

FC Südtirol also made a name for itself in Italian football in the recent Serie B season and will continue to play in the second division next year. The icing on the cake from a football perspective is the European Championship in Germany these weeks. At first glance it seems as if the club from Bolzano doesn't really have anything to do with it, but since Friday it has been clear: FCS midfielder Jasmin Kurtic will be there in the fight for the biggest international football crown on the continent .

On Friday, the Slovenian national team announced that the 35-year-old is an integral part of the squad and will represent his home country on this big stage. In addition to Kurtic's individual success, history was also written at FC Südtirol. Because the Slovenian is the first Talferstädter player to step onto the pitch at a European Championship.

This year's edition of Italy's small neighboring country will be taking part in the international tournament for the first time since 2000. Kurtic brings with him an experience of 91 international matches (third place on the Slovenian record list) in the “Dragons” team and will wear the colors of his country in the tournament debut on June 3th against Denmark. It continues on June 16th against Serbia and on June 20th against England.
