The Ritten Football Festival delights again

A premiere, sometimes challenging weather conditions, female repeat offenders and Steinegger wonder boys. In short, that was the seventh edition of the Don Promillos Cup in the Arena Ritten in Klobenstein last weekend.

The premiere this year was the club tournament, which was held for the first time on Friday evening. A proud 12 Ritten clubs gave their best and played exciting duels. In the end, it was the farmers' youth from Lengstein who secured the premiere title and challenge cup and were able to celebrate properly. Even the wild weather only caused a brief interruption to the celebrations of the first club tournament, which will definitely be continued next year.

As usual, the men's teams were at the start early on Saturday morning. 28 teams from Ritten and the surrounding area played from early to late for the coveted title, which was ultimately won by the Steinegger boys "Colle City" with top scorer Juan Etoo Lantschner (11 goals!). They received prominent support from Raphael Kofler from FC Südtirol, who spontaneously volunteered to take the field with the two teams in the final.

In the ladies' category, ten motivated teams fought for the title from midday onwards. As in the previous year, the ladies from CF Mafia were in a class of their own and confirmed the previous year's title in impressive fashion. After the big award ceremony, the weather gods were kind and nothing stood in the way of a long night of partying.

The dreaded 7th year is now history and now it’s full steam ahead for the 8th Don Promillos Cup in June 2025!
