Robin Lang is happy about the next Italian championship title.

South Tyrol's minigolf talent attracts attention

Robin Lang from Algund is crowned U3 Italian champion for the third time on the concrete tracks in Vergiate (Varese province). Dieter Kaufmann misses the play-off for the senior Italian championship title by one stroke.

With the fourth best overall result of all participants of 156 strokes in 5 rounds, Robin Lang (15) from Algund successfully defended the U15 Italian championship title on the concrete courses of his club GSP Vergiate in Vergiate (Varese province). Not only that. For the third time in a row he managed the double, winning the individual title and the team title. Dieter Kaufmann (MGC Terenten), on the other hand, missed the play-off for first place in the seniors, which 3 minigolfers achieved, by a single stroke and came sixth with 1 strokes.

Robin Lang was once again able to demonstrate his great talent in Vergiate. After 4 rounds, he was able to leave his father Alexander Lang, who competed in the seniors, behind by a full 10 strokes. After 4 rounds, Robin even had the best result of all participants with 121 strokes. After 5 rounds, only the 156 first-placed men, Paolo Porta (3), Cristian Pinton (151) and Emanuele Mirko Prestinari (151), were better than Robin with 152 strokes.

At least Lang was able to leave Anna Bandera (161) behind. This time, the former world champion had to let her sister Silvia Bandera (158) take the lead. "I am proud that I achieved the fourth best result of all participants. I am already looking forward to the Youth World Championships in Voitsberg (Styria)," said Robin Lang.

The unlucky one this time was Dieter Kaufmann. After 4 rounds, the Seiser was still in second place in the seniors. In the final round, Kaufmann needed 2 strokes for lane 4 and 4 times 2 strokes for lanes 3 and 6. With a round of 9, he missed the play-off for first place by a single stroke. He came sixth. Alexander Lang from Algund was left without a medal this time. With his team GSP Vergiate II, he took the disappointing 33th place in the seniors' team ranking.

4 minigolfers from South Tyrol have been nominated for the 2024 major minigolf events: Robin Lang (Algund) for the Youth World Championship from 6 to 10 August in Voitsberg (Austria), Alexander Lang (Algund) and Dieter Kaufmann (Seis) for the Senior European Championship from 7 to 10 August in Canegrate (Lombardy) and Hannes Laimer (Lana) for the European Championship of the general class from 25 to 28 September in Zaton/Croatia.
