World Cup adventure for 3 minigolfers from South Tyrol

This week, there are two minigolf world championships with three South Tyrolean participants on the program. The Youth World Championship (U2) will be held from Wednesday to Saturday on the Eternit and felt tracks in Voitsberg (Styria).

Robin Lang from Algund is also taking part, aiming for a place in the top 32 to qualify for the match play (knockout ranking). The three-time U15 Italian champion is taking part in a major minigolf event for the third time and the Youth World Championship for the second time. Lang will not be taking part in the team ranking this time, as the Italian association only has two participants.

His father Alexander Lang (49) from Algund and Dieter Kaufmann (68) from Seis, on the other hand, are taking part in the Seniors World Championship (over 45 years) on the Eternit and concrete tracks in Canegrate near Milan from Thursday to Saturday. Kaufmann is taking part in a major seniors minigolf event for the 13th or 14th time, Lang is taking part in the seniors class for the 2rd time after taking part in two European Championships in the general class. Kaufmann and Lang want a medal in the team competition and a top 3 placing in the individual competition.

Dieter Kaufmann celebrated his greatest success to date at the 2009 European Seniors Championship in Portugal. He became Vice European Champion in the knockout ranking and won European Championship gold in the seniors team ranking. On both track systems in Voitsberg and Canegrate there are 4 preliminary rounds, which concludes the team competitions. For the individual ranking, 2 intermediate rounds and 2 final rounds are played. In the seniors and juniors, the best 32 qualify for the final rounds in the stroke count ranking and 32 for the match play (knockout ranking).
