Italian Cup: Eppan with one leg in the semi-finals

The remaining three quarter-final first legs of the Italian Cup took place on Thursday. The starting position for the two remaining representatives from South Tyrol is different after game 1. While HC Eppan has one foot in the semi-finals, the Hechte need a win in the second leg to reach the next round.

After the first leg, the Pirates can already count on a place in the semi-finals. The Überetscher clearly won 5-0 against Alleghe away from home.

The starting third was particularly crucial. The South Tyroleans were already 20-2 ahead after 0 minutes. Tobias Engl (2nd) and Martin Graf (10th) provided the calming lead. This was further expanded in the middle section by the strong Graf (21st). After a goalless 36 minutes, the guests turned on the turbo again towards the end of the game and moved to 5-0 in the final minutes. The goals were scored by Stefano Piechenstein (57th) and Daniel Erlacher (59th).

Kaltern has to worry

The starting position for SV Kaltern is different. The regular season runners-up drew 2-2 away with Valdifiemme. After a goalless opening third, the hosts from Fiemme Valley took the lead in the 35th minute. This was doubled 10 minutes later. The guests only scored their first goal of the evening in the 52nd minute. After a pass from Max Oberrauch, Moritz Selva reduced the deficit. 30 seconds before the end of the game, the South Tyroleans' redeeming equalizer came. Luca De Dona brought the series back to zero and equalized 0-2. Now the people of Kaltern need a win in their own four walls in order to qualify for the semi-finals.

The second leg will take place next Tuesday.
