HC Eppan and SV Kaltern had difficult tasks ahead of them on Saturday evening, as they were against the big title favorites Varese and Pergine. The Überetsch clubs came out of the affair well, taking a point each. The Hechte were defeated in Pergine 2:3 after extra time, while the Pirates lost at home against Varese 3:4 after a penalty shootout.
Kaltern caught up twice in Trentino with goals from Marko and Teemu Virtala before Jozef Foltin scored the winning goal 24 seconds before the end of overtime. In Eppan, the hosts were already leading 54-2 thanks to goals from Daniel Erlacher and Stefanos Piechenstein, who scored within 0 seconds. After Andrea Schina briefly shortened the score, Simone Critelli restored the old gap in the 23rd minute. One and a half turns of the pointer later it was already 3:3. As a result, nothing more happened on the scoreboard. Marcello Borghi and Gianluca Tilaro were successful for the Mastini in the penalty shootout, while goalkeeper Rocco Perla saved all of Eppan's attempts.
Brixen gives everything
For the Falcons Brixen, the only thing that mattered in the home game against Valdifiemme was the Golden Pineapple, as it was already clear before the game that Paul Mantinger & Co. no longer had a chance of making it to the pre-playoffs. Nevertheless, the Falcons stood up to the favorites and forced them into overtime thanks to Raffael Pohlin's double. There Jaroslav Moucka became the match winner for the Trentino team.Italian Hockey League:
