SV Kaltern's defense has so far presented an insurmountable hurdle for opposing teams. After six match days, Michael Sölva & Co. have only conceded six goals - an incredible statistic. The pirates from Eppan also found no way to break through the dam and lost the derby clearly 1:4.
The 365 spectators witnessed a balanced opening period in which the two goalkeepers, Alex Andergassen and Mike Reinalter, defused all attempts. At the beginning of the second period, the league leaders increased the tempo and took the lead through Marko Virtala with a two-man advantage. They waited in vain for a reaction from the Pirates, instead Maximilian Sölva made it 2-0 with his first goal of the season. The preliminary decision was made one second before the end of the period when Raphael Felderer increased the lead to 3-0.
Eppan tried to get back into the game in the last 20 minutes, but Stefano Piechenstein's 1:3 came too late. Emiliano Valentini sealed the final score of 4:1 with an empty-net goal.
At the same time, the HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites celebrated a real goal fest: The team coached by Tommy Flinck beat the Falcons Brixen 12:2. Curiously, the guests were in the lead after 20 minutes thanks to goals from Matt Staudacher and Jakob Kirchler. But then they collapsed like a house of cards. The outstanding players on the ice were Robert McCollum (6 assists) and Mykhailo Krasnozhon (3 goals and 2 assists).
