Diego Kostner has been chasing the puck in the Swiss National League (NLA) for twelve years now. First with HC Lugano, since 2016 for HC Ambrì-Piotta. At the traditional club, the 31-year-old center is an indispensable component for coach Luca Cereda on the fourth line as well as in the power play and when outnumbered - he has proven that in the first two games of the new season.
At the start of the season, Ambrì-Piotta met the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and won 5-2. Kostner was on the ice for 16 minutes (almost three of them in the power play) and scored with a follow-up shot to make it 5:2. 24 hours later, Ambrì also won 5-1 at the Kloten Flyers, which means the club from Ticino surprisingly leads the table in the NLA.
Trivellato and Spornberger start strong
The Schwenninger Wild Wings got off to a similarly furious start in the German DEL: First, the team of Alex Trivellato and Peter Spornberger won 2-1 after a penalty shootout against Alder Mannheim, followed on Sunday by a 7-2 spectacle against the Iserlohn Roosters .This was not to be expected, as the Wild Wings lost six games in a row in preparation. Both Trivellato and Spornberger played a lot of minutes against Iserlohn: Trivellato was on the ice for almost 19 minutes and scored to make it 5-0. Spornberger, who missed the first game, was particularly valuable for coach Steve Walker when he was outnumbered. The team from Baden-Württemberg is in second place in the table behind the Kölner Haien.
