Vause lets the Foxes celebrate in extra time

HCB Südtirol and Red Bull Salzburg faced each other for the third time this season. The Mozartstadt team had narrowly won the previous two championship duels in front of their own audience. Now the Foxes, who could count on McMonagle's services again, wanted their first win in front of their fans - and they went to work with corresponding commitment in the starting third.

Brucker had the first opportunity (1st), but after that Bozen took the reins. Pope's shot (5th) went just wide, then Gracnar had to intervene on Hofer's shot from the blue line. As the game continued, the guests, who had to do without Kristler, Komarek, Kutlak, Hughes, Walter, Ledin and new acquisition Aquino, became stronger and stronger. Trattnig (8th) and Ferrier (10th) tested Hübl with their shots.

Bolzano takes the lead twice

In the 12th minute Palmieri tried from the turn, but Gracnar was there. Being outnumbered, Hübl was finally able to defuse a Ferreiro shot before Gander was denied twice by the Salzburg goalie in a duel with Gracnar (18th). Finally, Egger and Oberdörfer missed the last two chances of the first half of the game.

The middle third started well for the home side. After 22 seconds, Gracnar buried a Pollastrone shot from an acute angle. After a lengthy discussion, the referees awarded the goal because the puck went over the line. But Salzburg struck back immediately with Heinrich, who shifted fastest after a poke in front of Hübl. Shortly afterwards, Bozen took the lead for the second time. This time Vause decisively deflected a Pollastrone shot.

It was back and forth in this match. Palmieri (27th), Saviano (31st) and Pope (32nd) missed their best chances to make it 3-1. And so what had to come came: the equalizer. Fahey's shot from the blue line couldn't be held on by Hübl when he was outnumbered and Brucker scored successfully (36').

Gracnar like a wall

In the final third, the Foxes missed an advantage situation, Pope and Broda were denied by Gracnar. Even after that, the guests' goalkeeper remained the focus when he saved on Palmieri (51') and Insam (52').

Both teams acted very cautiously in the final phase. There were still options. This is how Hübl stood out when he had a chance for Sterling. 115 seconds before the end, Broda had to leave the ice after being hit with a stick. That was the chance for the guests to close the bag. But HCB Südtirol saved itself into extra time.

There were 1.41. Minutes played when Taylor Vause made it 3-2.

Vause lets the Foxes celebrate in extra time

The 23rd matchday in the EBEL was played on Sunday. In the ice wave, HCB Südtirol and the reigning champion Red Bull Salzburg faced off in front of 3022 spectators. The white-reds won the duel, with Vause scoring the winning goal in the second minute of extra time.
