HC Litvínov is one of the most traditional ice hockey clubs in the Czech Republic. Since 1959, the club from the town of approximately 25.000 inhabitants near the German border has played continuously in the top league of the former Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic.

Among the greatest successes in the club's history are three runner-up finishes and its only championship title to date in 2015. However, last season was difficult: Litvínov only secured its place in the Extraliga by winning the relegation playoffs against second-division champions HC Dukla Jihlava.

Talent factory with NHL caliber

Litvínov is internationally renowned, primarily for its outstanding youth development program. For decades, the club has consistently produced players who later make the jump to the NHL.

Particularly impressive: During the Czech Republic's historic Olympic victory in Nagano in 1998, five players in the squad had received their training at HC Litvínov. Furthermore, Ivan Hlinka, a true club legend, led the national team to the gold medal as coach.

One of the biggest names in the club's history is Robert Reichel. The former forward became a three-time world champion, won Olympic gold, collected a total of seven World Championship medals, and played more than 900 NHL games.
