500 games: The captain is honored

Joining Club 500 is a special milestone for the Rittner Buam, which is granted to all players who have appeared on ice at least 500 times in the Buam jersey. On Saturday another player will receive this honor.

Before that, the away game against the Steel Wings from Linz is on the agenda. On Thursday, the Rittner Buam want to make it clear their ninth win in a row in the capital of Upper Austria: “It's just going well at the moment. You can tell that we have a very strong team spirit. Then everything is easier,” notes captain Simon Kostner. It is also a special game for him, because in the last game against Linz, which the Buam won 1-3 on November 2st, Kostner recorded his 500th game for the Buam. He also celebrates his 33rd birthday on Thursday.

On Saturday against Jesenice it will be the 506th time. Kostner is ranked after Emanuel Scelfo (770 games), Dan Tudin (766), Alexander Eisath (608), Lorenz Daccordo (559), Thomas Spinell (557), Ingemar Gruber (506), Markus Hafner (501) and Julian Kostner (567 ) the ninth player in Club 500 and, alongside Tudin and Gruber, the third “from away” – i.e. non-Rittner – who remained loyal to the Buam for so long. “Of course that makes me very proud, 500 games is not a small number. “I always felt comfortable here, always had a lot of fun and we were always a top team that played for titles,” Kostner reflects.
