After two years: An AlpsHL team returns

The Carinthian team was already represented in the multinational league from 2016 to 2024. Now EC-KAC has decided to field a team in the Alps Hockey League again.

The roster of the KAC Future Team for the 2026/27 season will largely correspond to that of the successful U20 team from the previous season.

Johannes Schwaiger, President of EC-KAC: “We are incorporating the lessons learned from our previous eight years of participation in the AHL into our renewed commitment. In the past, we developed numerous players in our Future Team who were subsequently able to pursue professional careers. The new approach aims to ensure that our young talents also learn and are prepared to become leaders, for example, by taking on responsibility in crucial game phases or special teams situations.”

Michael Suttnig, Commissioner of the Alps Hockey League: “We are delighted that the EC-KAC Future Team is once again part of the Alps Hockey League. This step will further promote the development of young players. Since its inception, the league has offered talented players a valuable platform to gain important experience in adult ice hockey.”
