Rittner Buam | With the Tudin mentality to the title?

The chronically successful team wants to get back to where it belongs. Namely, right at the top. Four seasons without a title are no longer used to on the high plateau after the club won almost everything between 2014 and 2018. In recent years, however, smaller rolls have been baked - also in financial terms. This year everything is different: the best local players have remained on board, and three of the best legionnaires in the league and a prominent coach have been hired. The unmistakable signal to the competition is: “Hello, here we are again.”

Two newcomers are well known in this country: Colin Furlong and Terrance Amorosa. The former has been a luxury item in the AlpsHL for years - first at HC Pustertal and then at HC Gherdëina. Amorosa also played well for the Furie last year before moving to HC Bozen, but was not happy there. The signing of Max Coatta clearly bears the Tudin signature: The American is a completely different type of player than Janne Tavi, Jari Sailio and MacGregor Sharp were recently. In combination with Simon Kostner, the striker could attack the top scorer crown.

If the Buam are well positioned in attack despite the departures of Manuel Öhler and Philipp Pechlaner, the defensive personnel are thin. A possible injury will force Tudin to become active on the transfer market again.

Strengthen weaken Strengthen: A lot of quality in all positions – both among the local players and among the legionnaires. But the showpiece is the defense: On the one hand, the Buam have probably the best goalie in the league, and on the other hand, Amorosa, Ginetti, Marco Marzolini and Marco Insam are above-average AlpsHL players who no one can easily fool.

Weaknesses: The breadth of the squad is something to consider, especially since the Buam have often been plagued by injuries in recent seasons. It is doubtful that Tuomie can regularly play with four lines.

The most interesting new addition Max Coatta was in contact with several AlpsHL clubs, but decided to play on the high plateau. The American is a seasoned ECHL scorer who has collected 101 points in the last two years. With the right teammate, he can hardly be slowed down by the opposing defenses.

Prognosis Direct entry into the playoffs, i.e. entry into the top 6, is a must. If the Buam stay injury-free, they can have a lot of confidence. The title would be a surprise, but the semi-finals should be feasible - especially if Tudin signs another foreigner during the season. Amorosa will become a dual citizen in November.

Rittner Buam | With the Tudin mentality to the title?

As a player, Dan Tudin won everything there was to win with the Rittner Buam. Since this year, the Italian-Canadian has held the position of sports director together with Alexander Eisath - and wants to be just as successful. The beginning is promising.
