HC Gherdëina extends with additional locals

The Hockey Club Gherdëina announced the next contract extensions on Tuesday evening. They concern three homegrown players: Samuel Moroder, Julian Senoner and Leo Messner.

After the confirmation of Simon Pitschieler, Hannes Kasslatter and Diego Glück, the ink is also dry on the contracts of Samuel Moroder, Julian Senoner and Leo Messner. “The local players are the core of our team, which makes extending the contract of this trio all the more important,” says sports director Joel Brugnoli. “At 27, Moroder is one of the most experienced players and an indispensable component both on and off the ice. Messner and Senoner have developed very well in recent years and will continue to demonstrate their qualities in the coming season.”


Samuel Moroder enjoyed his training - with the exception of a short interlude at the Salzburg Academy - with his hometown club and has been an integral part of the first team for ten years. “The versatile striker collected 12 points in 37 games last season and is very valuable to every coach because of his great commitment, his running workload and his physical play,” writes the HCG.

Squad is taking shape

The 21 year old Julian Senoner In recent years he has developed into a seasoned AlpsHL defender whose strengths lie in preventing goals. “The 1,83 meter tall and 89 kilogram Senoner uses his body skillfully and displaces a lot of water in front of his own goal. At the same time, he also has qualities in opening the game and a powerful shot,” Senoner is described.

Also 21 years old Leo Messner played his entire career at HCG and made his first team debut at the age of 16. Since then, the striker from St. Ulrich has been a reliable point provider. Last season he scored 40 points in 19 games. “He will continue to demonstrate his great game intelligence, his instinct for goal and his commitment in the coming season,” the club concluded.

Moroder will wear number 19 again in the new season, Messner, who has signed a two-year contract, will remain loyal to the 86, while Senoner is the new number 4.
