Bolzano is even making the league leaders dizzy.
HC Bozen is fantastic! The Foxes put on a completely unleashed performance and snatched the top spot in the standings from Klagenfurter AC. It was a truly spectacular evening.

These Bolzano players are increasingly winning over their white-and-red fans. On Friday, they dismantled Klagenfurt and stormed to first place in the ICE Hockey League with a 4-0 victory. It was their fifth win and sixth point in six league games.
If this was the much-touted test, then the Foxes didn't just pass with flying colors. They turned it into a show. After a relatively even opening period, Bolzano ran rings around the Austrian record champions at times, culminating in their final demolition. KAC backup Florian Vorauer, who stepped in for the long-term injured Sebastian Dahm, was completely overwhelmed at some point.
HCB is playing with a level of energy, flair, and attacking intent in this early part of the season that hasn't been seen in the Sparkasse Arena for a long time. Blake Hillman and his teammates are rock-solid in defense, while Nicolò Remolato, Luca Frigo, and Daniel Gellon are tireless in attack. They create space for the true magicians – above all, Brad McClure, who is currently scoring from all angles. With seven goals in six games, no one in the league can match him.
Domingue celebrates goalkeeping artistry
In their home game against the previously dominant Klagenfurt team, who had only dropped points against Milan, Bolzano fired 40 shots while allowing only 26. Louis Domingue stopped them all, securing his first shutout. The former NHL veteran, with his presence, reflexes, and solid positioning, is a sight to behold for goaltending fans. The highlights:
| Mantenuto, finally! | Bolzano plays and plays and plays – but for a long time, they can't score. Nicolò Remolato misses the best chance of the opening period. But in the 28th minute, the deadlock is broken: Daniel Mantenuto flicks the puck from the face-off circle perfectly into the top corner – 1-0. |
| Defender as a striker | The second goal, making it 2-0, was scored by a man who is officially a defenseman but in reality plays as a fourth forward: Teemu Kivihalme. One of his many drives finally resulted in a goal (35th minute). Shortly afterward, a curious incident occurred: KAC goalie Florian Voraurer dived for the puck but missed, and Isaac Ratcliffe, kneeling, passed it into the slot to Matt Bradley, who simply had to tap it in (38th minute). It was 3-0. |
| A goal like in the NHL | At the start of the final period, Brad McClure delivered the highlight of the evening: On the power play, he took a Leslie pass at a sharp angle and fired a slap shot with millimeter precision into the far top corner (41st minute). Speed, precision, and power – a goal that hockey fans usually only see on TV screens from the NHL. |
HCB will be back in action in front of their home crowd on Sunday – this time as league leaders. The Foxes will host Ferencvaros Budapest at 16 p.m. for "Family Day." They will be looking to extend their lead over Milan and Pustertal. The surprise team from Lombardy suffered a crushing 2-7 defeat in Villach on Friday. Wolves celebrated a 4-2 comeback victory against Ljubljana.
