Ahead of the summit meeting: Change in the Bolzano coaching staff

HC Bozen is shaking up the ICE Hockey League. A real treat awaits at the Sparkasse Arena on Friday evening. In the hours leading up to the game, the team made a personnel change.

Last season, the patience of Bolzano fans was repeatedly tested. This season, however, the Foxes have sparked a new wave of enthusiasm. With a dream start (five games, four wins), the Red and Whites have catapulted themselves back into the hearts of their fans – and into third place in the standings. On Friday, a real cracker awaits at the Sparkasse Arena at 3:19.45 pm when league leaders Klagenfurt visit.

But in the hours leading up to this big game, there was a change in the coaching staff at HC Bozen. Goaltending coach Daniel Goller has decided to leave the club for personal reasons. The native of Kastelruth will turn his back on ice hockey and enter the private sector.

Visiting an NHL club

This marks the end of a special chapter for the 44-year-old. Goller has been working as a goaltending coach in the ice hockey scene for almost 20 years, including stints with Bolzano, Caldaro, Merano, Val Gardena, Vipiteno, and also with the DEL clubs Nuremberg Ice Tigers and Frankfurt Lions. Three years ago, in September 2023, Goller even had the opportunity to spend a few days with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.

Daniel Goller also briefly visited Philadelphia.

Goller's successor has already been found. Aron Kecskeméti will be responsible for the two Bolzano goalies, Louis Domingue and Marco Costantini, and will also serve as a video coach. The 33-year-old Hungarian has already gained experience in North America, his home country, and South Tyrol. From 2023 to 2025, Kecskeméti was an assistant coach for the Wipptal Broncos.

Kecskeméti has a treat in store, as the in-form Foxes face Klagenfurt at home on Friday. The match is made even more exciting by the fact that KAC suffered their first defeat of the season against Milano HC on Wednesday.

Hot dance in Bruneck

Ice hockey action awaits in Bruneck as well. HC Pustertal hosts Olimpija Ljubljana in a rematch of last year's semifinal, which HCP won impressively 4-1. Pustertal currently sits in fifth place in the standings, but this position can be misleading: unlike the other teams, the Wolves have only played four games, winning three and losing one.
