This has never happened before: This Bolzano star is causing something new.
The final regular season match was a relaxed affair for HCB Südtirol Alperia. But not for one man: he became the new record holder. And he's in the form of his life, just in time for the playoffs.

For 13 years now, HC Bozen has been a force to be reckoned with in the ICE Hockey League, formerly known as the EBEL. Italy's biggest ice hockey club has written countless stories along the way. And yet, on this particular March 1st, 2026 – during their 4-1 away victory against the Pioneers Vorarlberg – an event occurred that was unprecedented in Bozen's league history: an HCB player became the top scorer of the regular season.
Brad McClure scored 31 goals in the regular season, more than any other player in the ICE Hockey League. In short: The Canadian is having the season of his life. In the meaningless final regular-season game on Sunday, McClure scored his 30th and 31st goals, setting a new club record in the process.
Bolzano and Vorarlberg in the last match of the regular season.
During Bolzano's time in the ICE Hockey League (later the EBEL), Brodie Reid held the record for most goals in a single season: In the winter of 2016/17, he scored 30 goals – including playoffs, it should be noted. McClure, who has now also found personal happiness in South Tyrol, has already shattered this record in the preliminary round.
Playoffs against Pustertal?
Curiously, the top scorer didn't even crack the top 10 in the scoring charts. With 48 points (31 goals, 17 assists), McClure is in 11th place, a ranking led by Ljubljana's Nicolai Meyer (59 points). Bolzano's top scorer is Cole Schneider with 51 points. The regular season is over – and now the best time of year for ice hockey begins. The playoffs are just around the corner. Bolzano will start their quarterfinal run with a home game on Tuesday, March 10th. Their opponent is yet to be determined. The logical choice would be the fifth-place team. and thus HC Pustertal. For South Tyrolean ice hockey, this would be a dream, but certainty will only come with the eagerly awaited "pick" after the end of the pre-playoffs next week.
This is how the Vorarlberg match went
| Many absences | Bolzano coach Shedden is giving Valentine, Samuelsson, Mantenuto, and Frigo a rest; Bradley (injured) and Vallini (ill) are also unavailable. Vorarlberg, which failed to make the playoffs, will also field a depleted squad in their final match. |
| McGazley | Two Bolzano players made their mark on the game: McClure and Gazley. The former put Bolzano in the lead with a rebound (8th minute), the latter perfectly deflected a Seed shot (8th minute) – and then McClure again made it 3-0 after an assist from Schneider (16th minute). |
| Brave opponents | Vorarlberg wanted a conciliatory finish and gave it their all one last time. Erne scored a consolation goal on the power play (26th minute), before Gazley sealed the 4-1 final score with an empty-net goal (59th minute). |
