Wolves win on grades, the KAC on points

44:18 in favor of the wolves: That was the shot statistics at the end of the game. This number alone is enough to explain the dominance of Johan Harju & Co. Tomek Valtonen's men played cat and mouse with the Red Jackets at times, created chance after chance and should have taken the lead after 40 minutes. Instead it was 1:1. A circumstance that didn't throw the Wolves off course - even though they even fell behind 1-2. They continued their powerful, energetic style of play in the final period, achieved the much celebrated equalizer through Dan Catenacci, but did not reward themselves for one of the best performances of the current season. They lost 2-3 after extra time.

The Wolves have to accept two accusations this evening: On the one hand, the exploitation of opportunities left a lot to be desired. Yes, Sebastian Dahm showed parades that were out of this world. Nevertheless, the offensive forces could have broken the Dahm dam with a little more precision and cleverness. On the other hand, the home team acted catastrophically in the special teams. Valtonen's team didn't use any of the seven power plays and conceded two goals when they were outnumbered. This is deadly against a team like KAC. The quality of the Carinthians - despite many absences - is too high for that.

But the South Tyroleans will take the positives from this game. They dominated the game for over 60 minutes, were technically and physically superior and more than deserved a win. On Tuesday in Feldkirch, when the Wolves visit the Pioneers Vorarlberg at 19.30 p.m., Raphael Andergassen & Co. want to perform just as well - and end up as winners. Dahm, the devil In the second section, only one goal is played - namely that of Sebastian Dahm. The Dane is literally bombarded by shots, but keeps his box clean. His saves against Filip Ahl, Johan Harju and Marc-Olivier Roy are world class. The punishment Whoever doesn't score the goals gets them: In the power play, Fabian Hochegger can shoot several times in front of the goal and celebrate when his shot fidgets in the net. Back on the power play The Red Jackets are ice cold: a blocked shot falls right onto Rihards Bukarts' shovel, who just has to push it into the empty goal. Plastino unlucky Nick Plastino has the best chance of equalizing in the final phase. However, his shot only hits the post and remains on the goal line. The arena shakes Dan Catenacci's deflection saves the Wolves in extra time. This was only 20 seconds old when Thomas Hundredpfund escaped and defeated Tomas Soll single-handedly.
