After slap in Bruneck: Caps react to the crisis

The Vienna Capitals have parted ways with head coach Marc Habscheid.

The Viennese had Lost 1:6 at HC Pustertal on Saturday and suffered their eighth defeat in a row. After twelve games in the ICE ice hockey league, the Capitals are second to last and only have nine points. Assistant coach Christian Dolezal and U15 head coach Fabian Scholz will take over the reins on an interim basis until the international break in November, the club announced on Monday.

Caps general manager Franz Kalla explained that Habscheid's many injury-related absences didn't always have to do with simple circumstances. “Nevertheless, it is important to us to act immediately to put an end to the sporting decline as quickly as possible. The team is in good hands with Christian Dolezal and Fabian Scholz.”

The team in its current composition is significantly better than the position in the table suggests. “The troops need self-confidence; the best way to achieve this is through new impulses and subsequently victories, which we want to win again as quickly as possible in order to meet our own demands.”
