Hefty fine and long ban for the Frank offender

There were scenes that took the breath away from the many ice hockey fans in the Bozner Sparkasse Arena: Daniel Frank remained unconscious after a brutal check in his Foxes' third quarter-final game on Thursday. Now the verdict is here for the culprit.

The Attack by Villach's Maxime Golod against Bozen's captain Daniel Frank made waves. While Villach is in the match on Thursday, inexplicably, with a two-minute penalty got away, there is now a receipt from the Sports Court (DOPS).

Golod was suspended for three games and also has to pay a fine of 750 euros. This means that the Canadian would only come back in a possible Game 7. As is well known, Bolzano is 3-0 ahead in the quarter-final series and can make the semi-finals perfect in Villach on Saturday.

Another Villach crack was banned after the match on Thursday. Andrew Desjardins, a 461-time NHL crack, had to take a shower early during the game after a slew-footing foul on Dylan Di Perna. Now he will be sidelined for two more games. One for the slew-footing offense, the other because he is a repeat offender.

Scott Valentine also suspended

Bad news for Bolzano: Scott Valentine also has to watch a game. He also committed a slew-footing foul in the final phase, but is not a repeat offender and therefore “only” has to stay out on Saturday evening in Villach.

According to the rule book, a player commits the slew-footing offense "if he dangerously kicks an opponent's foot or skate from behind or pulls an opponent back while at the same time kicking or hitting him in the feet from behind." Because If the risk of injury is significant (for example an uncontrolled impact on the ice), strict action will be taken here.
