Fan favorite Mike Halmo stays in Bolzano

Things have been quiet around Mike Halmo recently. But now the Foxes' crowd favorite has extended his contract in the Talferstadt.

Halmo will be entering his sixth HCB season. The 33-year-old came to Bozen in the summer of 2017 and won the championship with the Foxes in his first year. He then went to Finland and to the DEL with the Iserlohn Roosters before Halmo returned four years ago. The Canadian has long felt at home in South Tyrol and wants to finally bring the ICE title back to Bozen this season.

Halmo has had good statistics every year in Bolzano. The winger's best season was in 2017/18, when he contributed a total of 54 points to the title win. Last season, Halmo, who is loved by fans for his technique and aggressive style of play, scored a total of 36 points.

"I know what this team is capable of. Despite some player changes, I can say that over the years in Bolzano we have built a mentality that knows what it takes to win. It will be a tough season with many competitive teams. But we know that we can count on a unique fan base and that can make the difference."
