Next triumph: Pustertal's smallest is the biggest this time
Hangover after the derby party? Not at HC Pustertal! Three days after the prestigious triumph against Bolzano, the wolves have bitten again and are getting closer and closer to the top 6. The story of the evening was provided by a striker from Pusteria.

Dante Hannoun measures 1,68 meters. This makes him the smallest field player in the entire ICE Hockey League. And yet the Italian-Canadian in Bruneck has long been one of those cracks who always deliver consistently. But a match like the one on Tuesday evening is likely to remain in the memory of even the hard-working point collector Hannoun: he led his Pusterers to a 6-3 victory.
Hannoun was simply unstoppable that evening. It was a feast for the eyes to see how much wit Alex Petan's cousin exuded, how smoothly he danced through the opposing defense lines, and how poisonous his forechecking was. Hannoun prepared the first two goals in an exemplary manner, and he scored the third himself with an irresistible solo - thereby laying the foundation for Wolves' third win in a row.
Under interim coach Kasper Vuorinen, who had to do without the ailing Dan Catenacci, Ivan Althuber and Rick Schofield (he is training again) on Tuesday, things are suddenly running like clockwork again. First the overtime win against Asiago, then the exhilarating derby win against Bolzano and now the three points in the difficult match against Olimpija Ljubljana, which recently celebrated four wins in a row. The HCP is getting closer and closer to the top 6: Captain Raphael Andergassen & Co. are now only two points short of the direct playoff places. Arch-rivals Bolzano have meanwhile remarkably rehabilitated themselves from the derby defeat thanks to captain Daniel Frank.
The highlights
Hannoun's show | He is simply everywhere: First Dante Hannoun fights for the puck behind the opponent's goal and passes it to Mikael Frycklund (1:0), then the little magician plays perfectly to Christian Kasastul, who only has to push it into the empty goal (2:2). , before Hannoun himself dribbled through the entire defense and finished brilliantly (3:2). Previously, Olimpija had temporarily led 2-1 in the power play (Ville Leskinen) and thanks to an own goal from Wyatt Ege (shot by Zige Mehle). |
Strong wolves | Wyatt Ege with a tough blueliner and veteran Zach Sill after a fine Jason Akeson pass ensure that the score is 33:5 for HC Pustertal after 2 minutes. |
sovereign | Although Ziga Mehle brings the guests within 3:5 in the middle third, the Wolves close in the final section and survive one or two tricky situations. Jason Akeson hits the empty goal for the final score. |
The Wolves now have a tight program ahead of them. The away match in Vienna is on Friday (19.15 p.m.), and the following day (17.30 p.m.) the black and yellow will also face Fehervar in the distance. Bolzano, on the other hand, will not be in action again until Sunday away against Ljubljana.
