The Stehaufmännchen HCB also wins in Vienna
It looked better that way. HCB Südtirol won in Vienna and is slowly but surely working its way up the ICE table.

With the 4-1 win against the Vienna Capitals, HCB Südtirol celebrated their fourth win in a row and is working step by step to make up for the messed up start to the season. In any case, the form trend is pointing upwards and the Glen Hanlon ingredient is slowly but surely starting to work.
In the first third, the Foxes entered the ice at the Steffl Arena in Vienna with a big chest. Bolzano looked fresher than the hosts and brought the target much more dangerously in front of Stefan Steen's goal. The early 1-0 by Enrico Miglioranzi (3.28) fit perfectly into the mosaic of good chances and rewarded the HCB's initial willingness to play. But then last year's runner-up leaned back a little and allowed Vienna to get their foot in the door. Spurred on by the Austrian fans, the Capitals increased the speed in the second third and increasingly pushed for the equalizer, which was then not undeservedly scored by Trevor Cheek (26.44).

Nevertheless: The HCB was the better team, which was the minimum requirement against the crisis-hit Capitals. The Viennese had lost nine of their last ten games and recently parted ways with their head coach Marc Habscheid. The weakening opponent was just getting by. In the third period, the Foxes got the puck over the line, which didn't quite work before. These last 20 minutes in particular reflect Bolzano's offensive trend very well. And as is usual in sport: with success comes self-confidence. Niklas Svedberg also seems to have regained some of his self-confidence, parrying 26 shots and helping those in front of him get over the hill.
The highlights of the game
Strong first minutes | The Foxes reward themselves with a 1-0 lead after a lively opening minute. Enrico Miglioranzi pulls away from the blue line and beats Stefan Steen, who was completely blocked from view by Connor Ford in front of the goal - (3.28). |
Vienna follows up | The Capitals got stronger in the second third and equalized through Trevor Cheek, who used a crossbar from Rok Ticar to make it 1-1 (26.44). |
Stroke of genius from Teves | The Canadian defender goes around the Vienna defense, stays on the puck for what feels like forever and, after a wonderful spin, serves Tyler Sikura, who finishes ice-cold to make it 2-1 (44.03). |
McClure on the counterattack | Brad McClure chases the puck up the ice in a 2-on-1 and shoots the puck into the box with a wrist shot to make it 3-1 (54.05). |
On and on | Mike Halmo accepts a wonderful pass from Dustin Gazley in front of the Vienna goal and beats Steen with a backhand over his shoulder to make it 4:1 – (56.17) |
Things are different for the other team from South Tyrol. HC Pustertal has enormous personnel concerns lost against Fehervar with 2:5. The HCB Südtirol continues next Wednesday in Klagenfurt (17.30 p.m.).
