Too much adversity: Bolzano suffers a severe setback

Everything that starts badly ends badly. This third Sunday of Advent at HC Bozen can be summarized something like this. The Foxes lost 1:3 against Villacher SV and slipped to third place in the league table. However, the disaster began for the HCB before the game even started.

First of all, the visiting team gave the Bolzano team the news that a regular game start at 18 p.m. was out of the question. The people from Villach were stuck in a traffic jam on their journey to the Pustertal (see own report). The VSV bus only rolled into the stadium parking lot just under three quarters of an hour before the start of the game, and so the game had to be postponed by an hour and the Foxes' warm-up program had to be significantly extended. Almost at the same time, the HCB management learned that Mike Dalhuisen, who had already started warming up, had been suspended. Although it was foreseeable that the defender would be taken out of action after his second game misconduct penalty in the match against Vienna, according to the club, no official notification was received from the ICE headquarters until shortly before the start of the game.

The HCB started the game significantly late and with only two defensive blocks (Di Perna is still missing due to injury). The meager food that the Foxes offered the viewers in the following 60 minutes cannot be attributed to these circumstances alone. In a quick, fair duel that was also characterized by bad passes, the home team seemed far too sedate in the transition game. Although they fired 45 times at goal, it seemed as if the strikers didn't want to risk any bruises that evening and wanted to get in the path of the opposing goalie. Villach was rarely really put in trouble. Once Bozen was able to compensate for a deficit through Mike Halmo, but after the 1:2 in the final phase the resistance was broken. Short & sweet: The highlights of the game Gazley misspoke The HCB should have taken the lead twice, but Gazley misses twice: first he ends a counterattack with Mitch Hults poorly (29'), later he has a long time standing free in the slot to aim, but shoots the goalkeeper in the chest ( 32.). First negligence Harvey cannot hold on to a Lanzinger shot and the disc falls at the feet of Tomazevic, who was completely forgotten by the Bolzano defense. Second negligence VSV defender Moderer hits the target low on Hughes, who doesn't find a single Bolzano player in the wide area and simply hits it with a slap shot. While HC Bozen suffered their second home defeat of the season against Villach, There was nothing to gain for HC Pustertal in the 0-2 defeat against Fehervar. The Foxes continue at home against Linz on Friday; the Bruneck team will not get back into the game until Sunday in Klagenfurt.

Due to a strange circumstance, 3000 fans waited in the Sparkasse Arena for over three hours on Sunday evening. However, HCB Südtirol Alperia's reward was not a victory in the pursuit duel against Villach, but rather a poor performance and a setback in the table.
