As expected: Demetz extends in Regensburg

Patrick Demetz will remain in Germany for the new season. The Wolkenstein native has extended his contract with the Eisbären Regensburg by one year.

The 23-year-old moved to Bavaria in the summer of 2022 after spending six seasons in Krefeld and one season in Leipzig. In the Eisbären jersey, the born striker became a defender and was delighted with the sensational win of the DEL2 championship this year. The Grödner then emphasized that he does not want to return to South Tyrol yet, but wants to stay in Regensburg.

On Tuesday, the club announced the extension with the defensive player. "Above all, Demetz impressed with his consistent performances and defensive qualities: numerous blocked shots, uncompromising style of play, strength in duels," reads a press release.

Demetz is pleased

"It was clear to me that I wanted to stay in Regensburg," emphasises Demetz. "I've always felt comfortable here. Regensburg is now slowly becoming my second home. The championship season was outstanding, we were last in November and then we got better and better. The Winter Classic was also an absolute highlight for us - and in the end we even rewarded ourselves with the championship. Simply unbelievable."
