Jets remain in the playoff race

Thanks to a strong power play, the Winnipeg Jets secured a 6-2 home victory against the Seattle Kraken.

Who would have thought it? It wasn't that long ago that no one would have thought it possible for the Winnipeg Jets to make the playoffs. But coach Scott Arniel's team is playing excellent hockey during this crucial phase of the year. The latest proof of this came with their 6-2 home victory on Monday night (local time) against the Seattle Kraken. The Jets also had another milestone to celebrate.

There's no question: things are going pretty well for the Jets right now. The team, featuring Swiss player Nino Niederreiter, is fighting its way closer to the playoff spots, point by point. They're just a few points away from the wild card spots. When the final buzzer sounded at the Canada Life Centre, the Jets were only one point behind the Nashville Predators in the second wild card position.

The game between the Predators and the Los Angeles Kings was still underway at that point. The Kings ultimately won the game 3-2 in a penalty shootout, thus securing the second Wild Card spot with a three-point lead over Winnipeg.
