NHL: The Oilers in the big four

The Edmonton Oilers were the last team to qualify for the NHL semi-finals with a 3-2 win in Vancouver. The Dallas Stars are the next opponent starting Thursday.

In the 7th and decisive game of the series, Edmonton was the better team for a long time and had the better scoring chances. In the second period, goals from Cody Ceci, Evan Bouchard and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gave the team a 2-3 lead.

The Canucks (without top scorer Brock Boeser) left a lot to be desired up to that point. When Conor Garland reduced the score to 3-1 (52nd), the home side regained hope. Even more than Filip Hronek (56th) made it 3-2. But nothing more was possible.

Oilers superstar Connor McDavid remained without a scorer point, Leon Draisaitl had one assist. He leads the play-off scorers with 24 points ahead of his teammates McDavid (21), Bouchard (20) and Nugent-Hopkins (16).

Florida vs. the Rangers

On Thursday night, the New York Rangers and the Florida Panthers open the semifinal series (best-of-7). A day later, Dallas and Edmonton get started. Anything is possible, as always in the NHL.
