Ambrì and Kostner have to accept the end of the season

Nothing came of the targeted playoff entry: Diego Kostner and Ambrì-Piotta lost the decisive game of the play-in tournament against EHC Biel on Wednesday and now have to go on vacation.

After losing the derby against HC Lugano, Ambrì-Piotta was given a second chance. But the mini-series against EHC Biel was also lost. On Wednesday evening, Diego Kostner & Co. suffered a 2:4 defeat in front of their own fans, which meant the end of the season. The first leg on Monday in Biel ended 1-1.

The guests got off to a perfect start and celebrated twice within 41 seconds. First Tino Kessler was successful, then Elvis Schläpfer hit the mark for the Bielers who dominated the game. Ambrì-Piotta pulled the momentum to his own side in the second third when Manix Landry scored the next goal when he was outnumbered. But Gaetan Haas restored the old gap before the end of the third.

No Lucky Punch

The Ticino team gained hope again seven minutes before the end with Laurent Dauphin's 2:3, but the equalizer was no longer possible. In the end, Mike Künzle scored into the empty goal. While Ambrì-Piotta now has to accept the end of the season, Biel will face the regular season winner Zurich in the playoffs.
