Diego Kostner suffers setback

When the first matchday of the top Swiss league takes place on Tuesday, Diego Kostner will not be able to play for Ambrì-Piotta. The Val Gardena native was injured during the preparation.

Diego Kostner has been repeatedly set back by injuries in recent years. In the last two seasons, for example, he missed a total of 43 games. Now he has to take another break. As Ambrì-Piotta announced on social media, the 32-year-old has injured the collateral ligament of his left knee and will be out for around six weeks.

Ambrì-Piotta is starting the new season with high hopes. The reason for this is the signing of Dominik Kubalik, who has returned to Europe after five seasons in the NHL. The Czech played for the traditional club from 2017 to 2019 and was voted the best player in the league. With talented Tommaso De Luca, Olmo Pietro Albis and Davide Fadani, there are three other Azzurri in the Ambrì-Piotta squad, although only De Luca is likely to play regularly.
