After the ice hockey gala: the Czech Republic is in the World Cup final

The Czech Republic is an ice hockey crazy country. And now it's upside down: the national team is in the final of the home World Cup in Prague.

Hosts Czech Republic are in the final of the Ice Hockey World Championship. The twelve-time title holder won on Saturday in Prague in a high-class first semi-final against Sweden 7:3 (2:2, 3:1, 2:0) and can become world champions for the first time since 20.20 on Sunday (2010:15.20 p.m.). Sweden fights for bronze beforehand (18.20:XNUMX p.m.). In the second semi-final on Saturday (XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) Canada and Germany's conqueror Switzerland face each other.


The 17.000 spectators in the Czech capital were treated to the best World Cup game to date by the numerous NHL stars from the Czech Republic and Sweden. The Northern Europeans took the lead through Marcus Johansson. (4th minute). After that, the goals came almost every minute. Dominik Kubalik equalized for the Czechs (8th). Sweden was ahead again just 20 seconds later thanks to Marcus Pettersson. A minute and a half later, David Kampf was able to equalize again for the effective Czechs.

While Sweden fired significantly more shots on goal (39:23), the hosts shocked coach Sam Hallam's team with their merciless effectiveness. After three goals in three minutes by Ondrej Kase (27th) and the outstanding Martin Necas (27th) and Kubalik (30th), the match seemed decided. Joel Eriksson Ek was able to shorten the score again (36'). Then came Lukas Sedlak's big appearance. The striker from first division club Dynamo Pardubice finally shot the Czechs into the final with two goals (46th/54th).
