Canada's prodigy also dismantles Denmark

The strengthened world champion Canada celebrated a clear victory at the Ice Hockey World Championship on Sunday. And all thanks to a young man who is attracting everyone's attention in the Czech Republic.

The Maple Leaves defeated Denmark 5:1 (2:0,0:1,3:0) in Prague. 18-year-old Connor Bedard scored two goals again and leads the scoring list with four goals.


After the start, Canada was reinforced by a real superstar. John Tavares flew to the Czech Republic after the Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated and captained the defending champions on Sunday. The 2014 Olympic champion made it 2-0 through Dylan Cozens (16th/PP) after super talent Bedard had taken the lead (3rd).


Tavares arrived in Prague

The Danes, the day before 5:1 winner over Austria, But they sold themselves dearly and scored the next goal through Christina Wejse (27th). Thanks to Bedard (42nd), the world champion moved ahead 3-1, Dawson Mercer scored in the empty goal (58th) and Pierre-Luc Dubois (60th) added two goals in the finish.

In Group B in Ostrava, France lost to Latvia 1-0 in extra time after leading 2-3. The Latvians turned the game around in the third period (2:1), with Kaspars Daugavins scoring the decisive goal in overtime.

In the lunchtime game, Finland had no problems with Great Britain (8:0).
