Finland advances, Poland is relegated

Finland still has promotion to the quarter-finals of the Ice Hockey World Championship in its own hands. Poland, on the other hand, has to accept direct relegation.

The Olympic champion won against Denmark 3-1 (0-0, 0-0, 3-1) in Prague on Monday and will go into the finish of Group A with a three-point lead over Austria. If Austria is relegated Great Britain on Tuesday (12.20 p.m.). beats, the four-time world champion needs a point against Switzerland in the evening game (20.20:XNUMX p.m.) to get the quarter-final ticket.

In the event of an Austrian victory against the British and a Finnish defeat, the direct duel would count for the Austrians if the points are equal. The promoted team will face Sweden on Thursday (20.20:3 p.m.) in Ostrava, who also won their sixth game with a 1-XNUMX win against France. First place can no longer be taken away from the three-crown team in Group B.

Meanwhile, Great Britain and Poland have to compete in the B World Cup. The British lost the relegation showdown against Norway in Prague with 2:5 and are therefore at the bottom of the table just like the Poles, who lost 1:3 in their “final” against Kazakhstan. Hungary and Slovenia have been confirmed as runners-up for the A-World Cup next year.
