In overtime: Lithuania pulls out U18s

At the Ice Hockey World Championships in Tallinn (Estonia), Italy had to admit defeat for the first time on matchday 2. Lithuania had the better end in extra time.

After the opening win over Estonia, the U18 Blue team went into the second meeting with Lithuania with a lot of self-confidence. But in the end Robert Chizzali's team had to leave the ice with a 1:2 defeat.

Stefano Piechenstein scored the Italian lead in a hard-fought game (12th). As a result, several power play opportunities remained unused and the middle third remained goalless. A good 7 minutes before the end, Danilius Cecekovas equalized (53'). The game went into the power play where Pijus Pranskevicius scored the winning goal after just 11 seconds.

Celebrations in Italy after Piechenstein's opening goal.

Italy's U18 team continues the game against Slovakia on Wednesday. Puck drop-off is at 11.30:XNUMX a.m.
