Surprise in Bolzano: Romania beats Hungary

Romania, which had so far had no points, surprised Hungary. The Southeast Europeans were more than able to give the favorites a leg up in the Bozner Sparkasse Arena and defeated Hungary 2-1.

This wasn't necessarily to be expected: Hungary lost the World Cup game against Romania 1-2 and therefore has to worry about being at the top of the table. If Italy gets at least two points against Slovenia in the evening (19.30 p.m./in the SportNews ticker), then the Azzurri would be at the top of the table after the third matchday.

Romania had suffered two serious defeats at the 1st Division A World Cup in Bolzano. There was a 1-6 defeat against Italy and Slovenia. Did the Hungarians therefore take their opponents lightly? The fact is that Romania took the lead through Balasz Peter (50th) after two goalless periods. Fehervar striker Janos Hari was able to equalize (56th), but Romania scored the winning goal in the final minute through Otto Sandor-Szekely.
