Summer Classic: Fribourg-Gottéron outclasses Bratislava

The Swiss defeated Slovan Bratislava 9-1 and are the second finalists. On Sunday, August 27th, the match for third place between HCB Südtirol Alperia and Slovan Bratislava will take place at 15:00 p.m., followed by the final between Friborg and the Straubing Tigers at 19:00 p.m.

The match. Fribourg-Gottéron dominated the game from the first minute and promptly took the lead after four minutes in the power play through Wallmark. The second goal followed three minutes later, this time it was Jecker with a shot from medium range that found its way through several legs into Coreau's box. Slovan simply couldn't find his game and had to accept the third goal shortly before the first break: Sörensen completed a wonderful puck relay with Sutter and Wallmark.

Friborg's fans created a great atmosphere.

The picture didn't change in the second third either. Slovan first survived two power plays unscathed, but capitulated for the fourth time after thirty-four minutes: Marchon was the scorer from point-blank range, and after another three minutes Sörensen scored his second goal on a breakaway.

The Swiss monologue continued in the final section: just 24 seconds had passed when the bell rang again in Coreau's box thanks to a rebound from Sprunger. But that wasn't the end, Friburg added three more times through De La Rose, Jörg and Killian Mottet, while Minarik spoiled the shutout for Swiss goalie Rüegger 24 seconds before the final whistle.
