18th Reschenseelauf with new women's distance record

The main run around the lake started promptly at 17 p.m. with a distance of 15,3 km and 90 m in altitude. Shortly after the start, a top 5 group with South Tyrolean Markus Ploner broke away. Until kilometer 12, the top runners took turns working at the pace. From the turning point back towards the Grauner church tower, the group was reduced to three runners. The Italian Emanuele Repetto, the German Konstantin Wedel and the South Tyrolean Markus Ploner worked together until shortly before the finish. The young Italian put himself in the spotlight for the last 5 minutes and was able to finish almost 10 seconds ahead of the German Wedel. Ploner added another 18 seconds and crossed the finish line in third place. The winning time of the 49.33th Reschenseelauf for men was 18 minutes and was a good one and a half minutes above the course record. Repetto and Wedel celebrated their premiere in the classic race on Lake Reschen at this year's edition.

Something historic happened in the women's competition. From the start, debutant Emmie Collinge showed strength and let her competitors know that she would win today's race. “I've wanted to start for three years - now it's worked out and I'm really happy to have won at my premiere here,” said the young Brit at the finish. It worked more than well. 52.54 minutes and thus a new outstanding course record for Collinge. And that with a strong women's starting field. With Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, winner of the Classic distance (26 km) at the 1st edition of the Stelvio Marathon, and Simone Raatz, winner of the Reschenseelauf in 2013, the network of competitors was closely linked from the start. Not least because the two-time Reschenseelauf winner Kathrin Hanspeter also lined up at the starting line. Until the end, there was no match against Collinge.

This year, too, the start of the handbikers was the vanguard of the main race. After the starting field of runners, Nordic Walkers and Smoovey Runners also set off on the route around Lake Reschen.

18th Reschenseelauf with new women's distance record

For its 18th edition, the Reschensee Run gifted itself with two new records. 3.831 athletes lined up at the starting line on Saturday. There was also a new record in the women's competition, where the British Emmie Collinge shattered the course record from 2004. Emanuele Repetto won the men's event.
