Agnes Tschurtschenthaler shines at the Top7 final

The Three Municipalities Half Marathon from Leifers to Branzoll is good ground for debutants. Last year the “Azzurro” Yuri Floriani won. This year it was Agnes Tschurtschenthaler's turn. The 29-year-old from Sesto only had to give way to 12 men. Tschurtschenthaler needed 21.097:1:15 to cover the 01 km, thus shattering the previous course record by 2:41 minutes. And it belonged to none other than Renate Rungger.

Last year's winner Sonia Lopes was second, almost eight (!) minutes behind Tschurtschenthaler. Third place went to Mirella Bergamo from Trentino. “The next half marathon I do, I want to have to torture myself less,” joked the winner after she reached the finish completely exhausted. "I got a bad stitch in my side after just 3 km. Things got better in between, but the last four to five kilometers were torture. Maybe I was a little cramped because it was my first half marathon."

It is said to be her last half marathon for the time being, because in 2012 Tschurtschenthaler wants to concentrate more on the track again: "In 2012, the European Championship standard over 5000 m is my big goal. It is important to have a clear goal, even if it is extremely difficult will be."

For the men, course record holder Said Boudalia dictated the pace from the start. Only the former Italian cross country champion Giuliano Battocletti was able to follow Boudalia's pace. The Moroccan native kept Battocletti safely in check and finally won in 1:06:36, seven seconds ahead of Battocletti. Gerd Frick achieved another good time in third place at the end of the season in 1:08:23. The three-time Branzoll winner was able to leave last year's runner-up Gianluca Pasetto behind. With Pasetto (1:08:28) and Trudner Peter Lanziner (1:08:55), two other runners remained under 1:10 hours.

"I'm currently preparing for the Florence Marathon and wanted to see if I was in good shape," said Boudalia. “I am absolutely satisfied and happy that we ran on the original route again this year,” said the 39-year-old, who has lived in Vas near Feltre for 12 years. With his third success, Boudalia has drawn level with Frick and Manfred Premstaller as record winners.

In the fight for the Top7 overall victory, Rudi Brunner and Edeltraud Thaler didn't let anything go wrong. It was the first overall victory for both of them. You will therefore succeed Hermann Achmüller and Gertraud Höllrigl. A seventh place was enough for Brunner. Thaler had to narrowly admit defeat in fifth place in a direct duel with her pursuer Petra Pircher (4th), but her overall victory could not be shaken.

"We had a high-quality starting field and even broke the participant record with 311 finishers. We couldn't expect more from the Top7 final," said OK boss Andrea Isoppo. The Top7 overall award ceremony will take place on Friday, November 25th at 19 p.m. in Haus Unterland in Neumarkt.
