Athletic Club misses podium at U18 all-around championship

The boys' competition, which took place largely in the rain, was hard to beat in terms of excitement. After eight competitions, two teams were tied for first place with 14.588 points in the final tally (the three best athletes from each club in the Octathlon were counted) after two days of competition: Trevisatletica from Veneto and Atletica Monza from Lombardy. Incredible. The best individual result counted for the team title to be awarded. The team from Treviso became Italian champions, as Jacopo Zanatta took second place in the individual ranking, while Lorenz Zwick from Atletica Monza was fourth.

The Bolzano-based Luca and Ruben Cola as well as Raffaele Fusaro, however, had to settle for fourth place with 13.898 points. Almost 500 points were missing from the podium. It's a shame, because a place among the three best teams in Italy was the big goal of the Bolzano team, who are looked after by sports director Claudio Tait and coach Pierluigi Putzu. In June, the Athletic Club came second in the northern Italian final.

In Olgiate Olona, Luca Cola was the most successful Bolzano today. With 4.705 points he came sixth in the individual rankings. Just one place behind, Raffaele Fusaro landed in 4.679th place with 7 points. Over 400m he achieved the second best result of all participants in 51.89 seconds. Ruben Cola, on the other hand, came eleventh with 4.514 points. Bruno Sparapani was also at the start and took 4.078th place with 18 points.
