Bolzano Pentecost meeting: Convincing comeback from Lukas Rifesser

A total of over 170 athletes from Italy, Germany and Austria took part in Bolzano today. Rifesser took part in an outdoor competition again after a forced break of almost two years. To get started, the 800 m specialist completed the 1500 m run. The forerunner was none other than world champion Yusuf Saad Kamel. The Bahraini world-class runner of Kenyan origin then got out and gave victory to Rifesser in 3.47,46:2.42.02 minutes. The man from Bruneck, who holds a record of 2011 (Turin 96), has only been faster eight times in his career so far. Rifesser won by over half a minute over Khalid Jbari from Bolzano-based Athletic Club 4 (21.77:XNUMX).

Hannes Kirchler, 34, from Meran, also showed a strong performance, winning the discus throw with 59,06 m ahead of Daniel Compagno (Athletic Club/55.12m), who is twelve years younger than him. Kirchler holds a record of 65,01 m, which he set at the Whitsun meeting six years ago.

The “oldies” Hubert Göller and Pierluigi Putzu were also convincing. The 36-year-old Göller took second place in the javelin throw with 64.89m behind Salzburg's Mathias Kaserer (68.51m), while the 35-year-old Putzu won the long jump with 7,07m, making him 67th for the 7th time in his career. m mark exceeded.

Sprinters Julia Calliari from Siebeneich (12,64 seconds) and Dominik Lahner from Bruneck (11.20) also celebrated daily victories, as did Elisabeth Stofner in the discus with 41.57m. The most successful athlete at this year's Whitsun meeting was all-rounder Elisa Trevisan. The 33-year-old from Castelfranco Veneto won the 200m, 100m hurdles and long jump and came second in the shot put.
