Bolzano club Athletic Club 96 wins national silver final

With this prestigious success, the Bolzano team returns to the national elite and will take part in the gold final (final “Oro”) next year. For the third time in the club's history after 2007 in Palermo and 2010 in Borgo Valsugana. The best 12 teams in Italy are allowed to take part in the gold final.

In Vicenza everything went according to plan for the people of Bolzano this weekend. Athletic Club 96 were able to compete with the best team, only long jumper Pierluigi Putzu was missing, who was seriously injured in the summer, but he was also very well replaced by Alessandro Bramafarina (4th place). In Vicenza, the people of Bolzano made it onto the podium ten times in a total of 20 competitions, with four wins, four second places and two third places.

Four individual wins The biggest contribution to Athletic Club 96's triumph was Abdoulaye Wagne, who won both the 400m and 800m. Sprinter Gualtiero Bertolone came second in the 200m and third in the 100m. Everything went right for Paolo Dal Molin's comeback and he confidently won the 110m hurdles. Dal Molin is currently number 4 in the world rankings in the 60m hurdles and vice European indoor champion.

The local athletes did very well in Vicenza. Hubert Göller won the javelin throw with 61,72, Marco Colombo took silver in the pole vault with 4.70m and Karl Telser took 4th place in the shot put with 14,52m. In the 5 km walk, Marco De Salvador from Bolzano came fifth, while Davide Comunello finished the hammer throw in 8th place. Discus thrower Davide Compagno (2nd) and “Wahlbozner” Angelo Lella (3rd over 400m hurdles) also climbed onto the podium.

However, the sprint relay with Paolo Dal Molin, Alessandro Veronese, Andrea Trionfo and Gualtiero Bertolone achieved the best result in Vicenza. She set a new regional record in 41.23 seconds.
