New Year's Eve Run: More Stars Announce Their Participation

One month before the turn of the year and therefore before the BOclassic South Tyrol, the field of participants in the elite races is taking shape. The international stars who will be taking part in the New Year's Eve run through the old town of Bolzano on December 31st also include Maxime Chaumeton (South Africa) and Matea Parlov Koštro (Croatia).

Both athletes have already taken part in the last two editions of the South Tyrolean running spectacle on the last day of the year. In the ten-kilometer race (8 laps) of the men's elite of the BOclassic South Tyrol, Maxime Chaumeton took third place twice, both in 2022 and 2023 behind Yeman Crippa. The South African long-distance runner holds the national record over 5 kilometers (13:18 minutes), a distance over which he became South African champion in 2023.

Over the 10 kilometers, Chaumeton has lowered his personal best this season to 27:36 minutes. Together with other great athletes such as Crippa, Telahun Haile Bekele and Pietro Arese, all the prerequisites for a high-level competition are in place.

Exciting duels on the asphalt and cobblestones of Bolzano are also expected on the five-kilometer course (four laps) of the elite women's race. In addition to the already announced defending champion Nadia Battocletti, Matea Parlov Koštro will also be back at the start line at Waltherplatz.

The Croatian, silver medalist in the marathon at the 2022 European Championships, has so far won 15 national titles over various distances. In the 5 kilometers, the 32-year-old, who was already fourth at the BOclassic Südtirol 2022 and eighth last year, has a personal best of 16:04 minutes. She achieved this on December 31, 2022 in Bolzano. As for other top athletes, sports director Gianni Demadonna is at work: the next names are likely to follow shortly.
