An incredible 1900 athletes took part in the new hall in Padua, including 24 South Tyroleans. For the first time, the South Tyrolean Athletics Association also sent the newly founded “South Tyrol Elite Team” into the race. This team, which will be officially presented in Bolzano in two weeks, is intended to better promote and support the best local young talent. The strongest performances in Padua were not shown by the young talents, but by two oldies. Christian Obrist competed in two races and climbed onto the podium both times. The Millander won the 1500 m in 3:54.27 minutes and was only beaten by Leonardo Tesini from Verona in the 800 m. Obrist ran the distance in 1.54.60:13:15.38 minutes, Tesini was 14.59 hundredths faster. Karl Telser remained one meter below his best mark in the shot put, but clearly won with XNUMXm ahead of Luciano Boidi from Treviso (XNUMX). Franziska Kofler, fourth in the high jump with 1.61 m, as well as the two fifth-placed Lisa Seppi (she improved her best by 5.62 cm in the long jump with 2 m) and Sandra Sparer (4.47.30 over 1500 m) also defended well in the women's race. The all-rounder Alex Verginer from Val Gardena also improved two personal indoor records. Over the 60 m hurdles he remained a tenth below his previous record in the preliminary round with 9.21 seconds) and in the long jump he increased his record by 4 cm to 6.26 m.
