The Top7 final in Branzoll is top-ranked

She originally wanted to take part in the Italian Half Marathon Championships in Cremona last Sunday. Now Agnes Tschurtschenthaler has postponed her half marathon debut to the Top7 final on Sunday in Branzoll. This is of course an upgrade for the Top7 running series, which is the most important in South Tyrol with around 7000 participants.

By returning to the original route, top times are also possible for the Three Municipalities Half Marathon. "I've recently consciously done more kilometers in training, but since it's my first run over this distance, I haven't set myself a specific goal in terms of time. I'll just let myself be surprised," said Tschurtschenthaler. Renate Rungger's course record is 1:17:42.

She already proved that Tschurtschenthaler can compete over this distance in the 3/4 half marathon over 17,6 km at the end of August. The 29-year-old track specialist from Sexten won in Sand in Taufers. This also makes her the big favorite for the Top7 final. Other well-known athletes are at the start: last year's winner Sonia Lopes from Cape Verde, last year's runner-up Mirella Bergamo and the top 7 overall leader Edeltraud Thaler.

The big favorite among men is Said Boudalia. The Moroccan native, who has lived near Feltre for years, holds the course record in Branzoll with 1:04:11 (2007). With his third success, Boudalia could catch up with record winners Gerd Frick and Manfred Premstaller.

In addition to Boudalia, the former Italian cross country champion Giuliano Battocletti and marathon ace Hermann Achmüller also mentioned. Other top runners could be added. In the fight for the Top7 overall victory, Rudi Brunner (SC Meran) and Edeltraud Thaler (Telmekom Team Südtirol) want to finally make everything clear. Brunner basically just has to finish (95th place is enough for him), Thaler just has to finish 23rd. Both were always in the top 10 this year.

The starting signal for the 21.097 km long classic will be given at 9.30 a.m. in the Galizien sports zone in Laives. The route leads south via Branzoll to the heights of Auer. We cross the Laimburg Bridge in a northerly direction to Pfatten, where this year there is an intermediate sprint at km 15,9. This year the goal is again in the center of Branzoll in front of the town hall.

Four days before the registration deadline, everything points to a new record number of participants. “We have received more nominations so far than in the same period last year,” says OC boss Andrea Isoppo. Last year there were 350 runners at the start. This year too there will be a “Best 5” team ranking in Branzoll. The five fastest times per club are added together.
