Usain Bolt is seriously injured during a charity kick

Multiple Olympic champion and sprint world champion Usain Bolt was seriously injured during a charity football match at London's Stamford Bridge.

The Jamaican fell to the ground at the “Soccer Aid” charity event and was taken off the pitch on a stretcher after initial medical treatment. “Torn Achilles tendon, but I know I’m a warrior,” the 37-year-old posted on Instagram afterwards.

The game, which was televised, is a well-known charity event. According to media reports, 120 million euros were raised for the children's charity UNICEF. Bolt, who has been taking part in the event regularly since 2018, was the captain of his team, which ultimately lost 3-6. Former football professionals Eden Hazard and Alessandro Del Piero were among others in his team. Bolt even set up a goal from Del Piero.
