Alex Schwazer shines in his comeback.

Alex Schwazer shows with his return

Alex Schwazer made his surprising comeback on the racewalking stage on Saturday. The 40-year-old impressively demonstrated that he's still fit.

Alex Schwazer is a sportsman through and through. The Wipptal native demonstrated this once again on Saturday at his Comeback He demonstrated this: He finished the 10 km race walk, part of the regional team championships, in San Biagio di Callalta (Treviso) in 43,11 minutes. Schwazer thus took the victory with a clear lead.

Schwazer pushed hard, especially in the first four kilometers. Then the 2008 Olympic champion ran out of steam. Nevertheless, his performance is remarkable at almost 41 years of age. It remains to be seen which races Schwazer will compete in in the future.

Saturday's competition, which cannot be compared to those at the international level, was part of the regional team championships, where Schwazer will be wearing the jersey of the athletics club Atletica San Biagio (Treviso province). The walker from Kalch has been registered with this club since last year.
